-A BIT ABOUT THE PARIS METRO

After a delectable breakfast at the Sofitel, we met Mike & Phyllis at the newly renovated Picasso Museum at 11:00am. Although there were long lines wrapping around the courtyard - due to crowd control, the line moved quickly. If you enjoy Picasso, you will be in heaven. The museum is free for all visitors on the first Sunday each month, although the fee was quite reasonable at 11 euros per adult.
You will want to allow at least 2 hours in the museum because not only is the art lovely and inspiring the architecture and design features are stunning. Here is a little slideshow of some of my photos which may inspire you to stop by the next time you're in Paris.

After the museum we ate lunch at a lovely little bistro, crowded and busy but we learned from Phyllis that the difference between and Croque Madam and a Croque Monsieur grilled sandwich is that the Croque Madame has an egg on top. This is THE best sandwich on planet Earth!

Jim Morrison from The Doors, gravesite at Pere Lachaise Cemetary in Paris, France
After lunch we took the metro to Paris' largest cemetery Pere Lachaise. Admittance is free but located just out front by the gates are vendors who will sell you a map of the cemetery. If you have any plan on finding some of the celebrity graves, you really should pay the 5 Euro and pick up a map before entering. Jim Morrison's grave is just plain difficult to find. Amongst other dignitaries at rest at this beautiful place is Oscar Wilde and Edith Piaf to name but a few. Take your time and browse the cobblestone walkways. Wear excellent shoes and take a bottle of water!
A bit about the Paris Metro: You can purchase 1, 2, 3, or 5 day passes. However, if it is particularly smoggy the metro is free. The catch is, you never know!

Michael and I travel mostly because we like learning and experiencing new things, seeing new places and learning about different cultures and food that only comes from getting out and about in the world.
