Rock And Roll Is Here To Stay - A Day At Sea

-How to keep from throwing up
-Christmas eve when someone else decorates

Last night was another evening of rock and roll but not the good kind. Up and down, side to side, rolling, rocking, we went to and fro but our little ship persevered. The staff assures us (with a big smile) that the Drake Passage is much choppier than anything we have experienced thus far so we are duly warned. I take that to mean, buck up baby, you're in for a choppy ride!
Seeing my concern, the wonderful Jovanka has placed a bowl of candied ginger on our dining table, green apples in a basket near the desk and I have an additional package of Bonine Seasick medicine at the ready. I also have the Scop patch behind my ear and believe it or not, it seems to be working. Michael being a sailor has hardly noticed the movement. Hmmph!
As we walked around the ship it was great to see the beautiful holiday decorations. we don't decorate for Christmas in our home so the smell of pine and the blinking lights are both things that I miss but am not sure is "worth" going to all the trouble. Once in a while though, maybe, yes.
There are also fresh baked Christmas cookies everywhere. We had a few...yum. Gingerbread houses, toy trains and Christmas villages are set up in front of the all of the restaurants and coffee shops around the ship. Poinsettia plants and pine garland decorate the stairways and of course, no Christmas would be complete without a giant Christmas tree. The ship's tree was located in the forward part of the ship and as you climb up or down the spiral staircase you can enjoy a view that isn't easily accomplished at home. (Nordstrom in San Francisco is the only other place that I have seen a Christmas tree from the top down.)
Tomorrow morning we will be travelling through the Chilean Fjords and the highlight will be El Brujo Glacier, an excellent way to spend Christmas morning! Speaking of Christmas, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! If the internet is still available I will try to post more photos and give you an update.

Michael and I travel mostly because we like learning and experiencing new things, seeing new places and learning about different cultures and food that only comes from getting out and about in the world.
